Powder River Basin - South Entrance

Over 80 BNSF and UP coal trains a day exit the south entrance to the Orin line that bisects the Powder River Basin in eastern Wyoming , making the south end of the Orin Line the second busiest freight line in this country.  Almost all trains are pulled by the latest AC locommotives, many using distributed power.  This videotape shows 24 hours of action in October 1999 on the busiest part of the Orin Line - the south end.  Two DVD, two tape set.  Three hours, 27 minutes.

UP Southern Idaho Main

The Union Pacific's main line to the Pacific Northwest around Glenns Ferry in southern Idaho is a scenic and tough piece of railroad with 1.45% grades in both directions out of the Snake River valley.   Manned pushers are used on westbound grain, soda ash, coal, and beet trains, and on heavy manifest trains on these grades.  This video shows a day and a half of awesome action between King Hill and Reverse in October 1999.  128 minutes.

Canadian Pacific's Prairie Main

The number of freights on CP's Prairie Main, part of their trans-continental line across Canada, is at an all time high, fueled by increases in double stacked containers and traffic to and from Chicago.  This video shows a day and a half of fast paced action on CP's Maple Creek sub between Medicine Hat, Alberta and Swift Current, Sask. in October 1999.  73 minutes.

CN's Bee Line Across the Prairie

The number of trains on Canadian National's transcontinental main line between Winnipeg and Edmonton, known as the Bee Line, is growing rapidly.  This video shows a day and a half of fast paced action on CN's Wainwright sub west of Biggar, Sask., part of CN's bee line in October 1999.  66 minutes.

The Trains of Northern New England 2000

Wisconsin Central 2000

The Wisconsin Central remains the largest and most exciting of the new regional railroads.  WC 2000 begins with several trains on the Algoma Central, part of the WC since 1995.  Next is action around Escanaba, MI on former CNW lines, then 24 hours of action on the WC's busiest line - the Chicago sub.  Last is a unique branch line train and more action on the busy Superior sub, all shot in May 2000.  112 minutes.

CSX Upstate New York Main

CSX's main Line across upstate New York is part of Conrail's former Chicago Line between the East Coast and Chicago.
