The Trains of Tehachapi 1999 DVD

This video shows the trains on what has been called the busiest single tracked mountain rail line in this country.  BNSF with its rainbow of colors has replaced the Santa Fe, and UP has replaced the SP.  We caught trains at most of the well known spots including Caliente, Bealville, Tehachapi, and the loop.  This tape shows all the trains for over 24 hrs. on this engineering marvel known as Tehachapi in April of 1999.  141 minutes.  Two DVD/one tape set.

Thunder on the Seligman Sub

This video shows BNSF trains at the dip west of Winslow, Canyon Diablo, Darling, and Flagstaff, and then 24 hours of incredible action between Williams Jct. and Supai Summit in April 1999.  BNSF's Seligman Sub hosts more intermodal trains than any rail line in the world.  Two DVD/two tape set.  181 minutes.

At Doswell, the only crossing at grade on the former RF&P, the CSX main line crosses a former C&O line now used by empty CSX coal trains.  The number of CSX & Amtrak trains there is the highest it has been in 40 years.  This video shows 24 hours of action at Doswell in November of 1998.  116 minutes.

This video takes a look at the trains and operations in September of 1998 on the main lines of the CN and CP between Montreal and Toronto.  First is 24 hours of action on the CP's St. Lawrence & Hudson subsidiary east of Smiths Falls, a.k.a "The Iron Highway, for their new Iron Highway intermodal trains, then we show 24 hours of action on the CN and Via Corridor east of Belleville, eastern Canada's busiest rail line.  132 minutes.

The Trains of Sand Patch Grade

The rural character and spectacular action and scenery make the legendary Sand Patch grade in southwestern Pennsylvania one of the better known and most visited railfan hot spots in the East.  This videotape shows all CSX and Amtrak trains for 32 hours on the heart of Sand Patch grade between Hyndman and Garrett in December of 1998.  135 minutes.

May all of you have a great Christmas and a Happy New Year

Remember, our DVDs make great Christmas gifts for the railfan in your family.  This Newsletter begins our 34th year of selling train videos.  My new knees are doing well after my second knee replacement in April.  Unfortunately my wife is still an invalid.  She has taken a few steps with a walker and is getting stronger but still has a long way to go to get out of her wheelchair and drive again.  She is still getting physical therapy so there is some hope for her to gain mobility in the future.  I would still like to do more videotaping but this is looking less and less likely.  I still plan on selling existing DVDs for another year or two as long as customers still want them.  We don’t make much if any money on them anymore but fortunately we don’t need to.  Still enjoying the grandkids – a granddaughter’s volleyball team in Northwest Illinois near where I grew up got second place in the state of Illinois in their class  and the football team containing a grandson made it to the semifinals, both in class 1A, the smallest class in Illinois.  And with someone caring for my wife 24/7 I got to see both teams play this fall and my new great grandson out there.  We have 6 kids, 16 grandkids and three great grandchildren counting step kids with one more on the way.  Our next newsletter will be in June of 2026.
